Можете представить мое изумление, когда жена рассказала мне об истинном происхождении этого оборота: в 1700-х утонувших пытались возвращать к жизни, в прямом смысле вдувая им дым в задний проход посредством клизмы. Что это вредно для сердца, стало известно позже.
