Valentina, waiting for her Father, sat with aВ sad expression on aВ bench outside the one-storey house where she was staying for the holidays.

The student at the University of Intergalactic Relations, she needed a good rest as much as anyone else. Looking up at the sky, Valentina watched for her Father’s starship. As she looked up, her halophone rang below. She touched the device on her left arm and answered it.

A mini hologram of her Father appeared, «Vala, I’m already in orbit around the Planet, I’ll be home in ten minutes.»

The planet she lived on was called Amma. Valentina’s father searched for all sorts of valuable stuff, so that he could resell whatever he found inside all that junk.

A smile appeared on Valentina’s face as she spotted the familiar ship in the sky. It was Victor’s starship, which was landing smoothly, making sounds of impending engine failure.

Victor did not approach Valentina, he stepped out ofВ his starship and then called his beloved daughter toВ him with aВ gesture ofВ his hand.

Vala approached her father and immediately hugged him. Victor, after the hug, looked at his daughter and said, В«How good toВ see youВ».

At this phrase, Valentina silently smiled.

«You know, I was worried, I thought I wouldn’t make it in time, because tomorrow you have to go back to the city, and then when else, you or I, will have time to meet. Thank God I’m here. Come on, I’ll show you something, you’ll be amazed.»

Valentina, along with her Father, went toВ the cargo bay. Her Father went inВ first toВ turn on the lights, and after the lights came on, Valentina saw the wrecked single-seater starship.

«What do you think of the find? Can you believe I bought it for a pittance from some Bear or whatever they’re called, I forget.» Valentina reminded him, saying «Ursa». «Ah, yes, that’s right. See, you’re the smart one, just like your Mama.»

Valentina’s mother, Pelagea, is a lawyer who defends the rights of the citizens of the Intergalactic Federation.

«Vala get in the starship and I’ll take a picture of you for Mama. By the way, the camera is at home so I’ll go and get it, and you take a closer look at the starship when you’ll see such a rarity again».

Although Valentina’s father could take a picture with a halophone, he preferred the old-fashioned way of having the photo be material, not digital. Apparently, Victor really wanted to write something on the back of the photo, because he was divorced from his wife, Pelagea. Whether this had anything to do with Victor’s activities, perhaps.

While Victor ran toВ get his camera, Valentina got into the cockpit ofВ the starship. As she sat inВ the cabin, she began toВ imagine herself as aВ pilot, exploring the vastness ofВ space, and then she noticed aВ glow below next toВ the seat.

Valentina, reached out and grabbed what looked like aВ book. The book was purple, and it glowed. On its cover, there were nine round holes, and on the first one, at the very bottom ofВ the cover, aВ Ruby was inserted. At first, it was impossible toВ open this book, but then the book began toВ glow even more strongly, and all the stones appeared inВ the holes, and then disappeared. Only Ruby was left toВ glow.

After all this, the Book whispered toВ Valentina. В«Open the Diary. Remember!В»

After that, Valentina realized the Book was someone else’s Diary.Valentina, hearing her Father run out of the house, managed to hide the diary in her bag.

В«Do you recognize it? When you were born, IВ photographed you with this device. AВ camera, from an era ofВ human stupidity, but Soul Genius.В»

After these words, Valentina, became very happy and said toВ her Daddy, В«What era is it now, Mr Smartypants?В»

В«Better not ask,В» Victor replied with aВ smile.

«Alright I’m in the cockpit, you’ve got the camera, do the deed and live wholeheartedly». Victor pointed the camera at Vala and took a picture of her sitting in the cockpit of a vintage starship.

An hour later, after tea, Valentina was about toВ leave. Her father handed her aВ photograph with an inscription on the back, addressed toВ Pelagea.

В«Forgive me for not being there for you inВ times ofВ trouble. There is aВ place inВ my soul only for you. Hugs and Kisses, Love VictorВ».

Valentina, taking the photo from Victor, hugged him goodbye and said, «Hugs to the Best Dad in the Universe. Love you and I’ll miss you. Bye Dad, see you later.»

«Bye sweetheart, be careful, it’s not quiet in the cities now. Love you, Goldy Rose», Victor replied sadly.

Valentina, got into aВ flying taxi and flew away with the trophy inВ herВ bag.

When she flew home toВ the city ofВ Matrishiny, she entered her apartment where she lived alone. She took off her jacket and took off her shoes and entered the room, and at that moment she received aВ call from her mother. Valentina told her that she had already arrived and that she was fine. After talking toВ her mother, Valentina remembered the Diary.

She sat down inВ her chair, took the Diary out ofВ her bag and heard aВ musi-poetic greeting.

Afterwards, she touched the Ruby on the cover of the Diary and the book began to turn Scarlet and then, the Diary began to glow and shake. The Diary instantly opened and pulled Valentina’s consciousness in. Though Valentina’s body continued to sit in the chair, her Soul rushed towards the mystery that had been hidden for Ages.
